EARLY SUMMER SUNSCREAM RULEBOOK

GENERAL INFORMATION:

 

1.1    This event is hosted by South.gg to encourage fans or players of Dota 2 to experience playing in amateur leagues. We prioritize Filipinos and/or Southeast Asian players  to give them a platform and a chance at potentially entering  world league tournaments in the future.

1.2    What is South.gg? South.gg is an esports organization from the Philippines that aims to be the foremost source of esports news, analysis, guides and predictions.

1.3    What is Early Summer Sunscream?  Early Summer Sunscream is a Dota 2 tournament hosted by South.gg to welcome the summer season. It is one of the yearly events planned by the South.gg team to bring an avenue for Cebuano esports enthusiasts to express, enjoy, participate, and mingle among themselves.

1.4    Match Format:

1.4.1         QUALIFIERS

We will only be  getting 64 teams on a first come first serve basis, and all qualifiers are fought on a BO1 match, with the finals for each stage fought on a BO3. Teams will be divided into separate groups, and each group will be streamed on different platforms, either Youtube or Facebook.

1.4.2         GROUP STAGES

The top 8 teams will face off with each other in BO3 matches. The winners of the group stages would then form the pool of teams to compete for the finals.

1.4.3         FINALS

The top 8 teams will be seeded randomly and will fight each other to reach round 2, where the 4 remaining teams would compete with the teams who received direct invites, to win as champion of the East and West side of the bracket. The finals round would then be fought with the champions of the East side and the West side, with the winner being declared as the Early Sunscream champion.

 

 

PLAYERS & TEAMS RESPONSIBILITIES:

2.1 Players must obey the Dota 2 User Agreement and Early Summer Sunscream Tournament Rules.

2.2 All players should set their IGN (in-game name) ahead before the tournament. Teams and tags should also be set up ahead in the Dota 2 client before the scheduled date of the tournament. Teams may ask the tournament organizers for more information with regards to this section. The organizers will not change the players’ IGN or other in-game assets since they will record and tag each of the player’s information on the team as complete with all the details the players have sent during the registration period.

2.3 The players/team representatives shall not broadcast their own matches or watch any live matches if their team still has an ongoing match.

2.4 All registered players must use fully-verified Steam accounts. Players can use smurf accounts but they must inform the admin that they are doing so for a viable reason (account cannot be logged in or a player’s account details have been forgotten) as long as the tag for the registered in game name has been used.

2.5 All registered players/teams/managers must be present in the South.gg community platforms, as invited by the South.gg admins. This will include the South.GG Community group & Discord server.

2.6 Conflicts should be resolved by email/teleconferencing. Players and managers are strictly prohibited to use any information acquired from the conference/email, without permission. All information will be considered confidential.

2.7 Players and teams must be on time. Failure to do so may result in sanctions.

2.8 Administrators and organizers can decide whether to inform respective personnel in charge should there be a problem within and between the teams in order to resolve the problem as soon as possible.

2.9 If a team has been sponsored by a company or has any concerns relating to the team’s management, they may inform the organizers in order to update our records and add any updated information in the team’s registration record.

 

 

CONTROVERSIAL MATCHES:

3.1 Scheduling and moderating for every single match is done by an admin. The admins will make decisions according to the tournament rules and informed teams. In extraordinary situations, the admins will be the one to make the final decision.

3.2 The team captain and/or manager are the only personnel allowed to communicate about any issues or controversial situations. In the case where the aforementioned personnel are unavailable, any player may contact the admin and state the purpose and their position in the team so that the organizers will have a grasp on who they are communicating with.

3.3. If there is no information from captains and/or managers about controversial situations within 15 minutes of the match’s end, the result is considered to be confirmed. Only the team’s captain has a right to submit a protest. The captain should provide all the information needed in 15 minutes after the match is finished, otherwise, the result is considered to be confirmed and out of the discussion.

3.4 Decisions about controversial situations can only be made by an admin.

3.5 Admin`s decisions are ultimate and final.

3.6 If two teams played a match, it cannot be replaced under any circumstances. (Final decisions will be on admin side)

3.7 If a match must be restarted because of technical issues (server crash etc):

Before horn – remake All Pick mode, same players on same heroes

After horn – full Captain’s Mode remake

3.8 Tournament organizers may adjust the rules during the tournament. Participants will be informed accordingly about the changes.

3.9 Throwing matches may lead to disqualification of the tournament and to the whole series, this may lead to a permanent ban within our tournament. We will be recording each of your profiles/details and if matched information has been found out that you are purposely throwing the game, admin & organizers will be making the final call.

 

 

DISCIPLINARY MEASURES:

4.1 All Competitors must be present 10 minutes before their scheduled match. If the team is not complete within 10 minutes, the team will automatically be disqualified during the group stage, while a game 1 win will be awarded to the opposing team in BO3 matches.

4.2 If a punishment is not described, the organizers may use any sanctions or fines, depending on the gravity of the situation, given that it falls under the tournament rules.

4.3  The punishments and their respective violations are as follows:

Using third-party programs unauthorized by the organizers that may affect the game Disqualification and/or default loss
Posting of unverified information with the purpose of shaming the organization Permanently banned from future tournaments and a possible lawsuit

 

MATCHMAKING & ORGANIZING:

5.1 Matches that are scheduled for the day will have a lobby that has been created by the admins and event organizer 15 minutes before the match starts officially.

5.2 When a lobby has been created, our marshals will be cooperating with the teams to join the specific room with the lobby & password on it.

5.3 Pauses are available per game, Maximum of 3 pauses and the teams can only pause with a valid reason. 

5.4 Total game duration – the game lasts until the winner is known. The winner is the team that destroys the opponent’s Ancient or forces them to surrender.

5.5 All games must be played with a coin toss, Best of 1 , Best of 3 , Best of 5.

 

MISCELLANEOUS: 

6.1 The Participants shall procure that they strictly comply with the tournament rules, as well as with any other requirements, instructions, and regulations concerning the tournament and provided to the participants by the organizers in writing, orally, electronically, or in any other form.

6.2 The Participants acknowledge and agree that the Organizers may amend the tournament rules at any time. The amendments shall bind the separate Participant from the moment of such changes. Execution of a supplementary agreement to Early Summer Sunscream participation agreement in connection with the amendment of the tournament rules is not required.

6.3 Notwithstanding the above, in cases of violation of the tournament rules by the participants (legal entities/organizations/teams/natural persons), the organizers by preliminary mutual agreement are entitled to apply sanctions against such participants, which are specified in tournament rules, or, if not specified, determined by the organizers on a case-by-case basis given the nature and severity of the violation. The sanctions may include, but are not limited to, warning, default loss, deduction from the Award and/or other payments (if such existing), forfeit of the Award and/or other payments (if such existing), disqualification from the tournament.

6.4 In extraordinary situations, the organizers by preliminary mutual agreement may make decisions that go against the Tournament Rules. In situations not covered by the tournament rules, the organizers shall make decisions at their own discretion.

LOCATION & SCHEDULE:

7.1 Lobby, Password, and other details will be transmitted by the match admin. If possible when teams created their own lobbies they must only relay the password to the opposing team’s captain/manager.

7.3 Since this is an online tournament, everybody is required to stay at home. If you have your own pc / if you are on boot camp, you are only required to play at that certain address registered for your boot camp.
