Ginebra took game 1 on their Finals match against Meralco

It’s their third PBA Governors’ Cup finals showmatch and Ginebra had a 2-0 lead.

Their first PBA Governor’s Cup final match was on 2015-2016 season wherein Ginebra took the series with a 4-2 win over Meralco. Second final match PBA Governor’s Cup final 2016-2017. Meralco fought hard for that series but unluckily for them, Ginebra once again grab the spot with a 4-3 series win.

Now on their third same season finals appearance, Ginebra took the first lead last January 8, 2020 with a final score of 87-91. Meralco gave Ginebra a hard game on that night by showing them good defense. Still they didn’t manage to get passed through GinKings because of their lack on offense. “We didn’t shoot the ball very well particularly from the three-point land. We normally shoot about 37 percent and tonight (Tuesday), we shot about 21 or in the low 20s,” rued Black.

Baser was 2 of 10, Maliksi 0 for 5 and Bong Quinto 1 for 5. That was the field goals by the best shooters on Meralco side. They had a 7 over 32 from the arc overall.
