The event will take place on Friday 17th January at 13:00 CET and will feature some unconventional features, including substitutions, random money injections, and mixed teams.
The chosen charity which the tournament will aid is the Barncancerfondon, the single largest financier of childhood cancer research in Sweden. GRID has already pledged €500 to the project and will also match donations from viewers during the first map, up to the value of €1,000.
The majority of the funds collected by Barncancerfonden will be used to finance research and training, while the other funds are spread across fundraising, information, advice and support, and administration, with more details on how the donations are spent found here.
The charity, Barncancerfonden, is the Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund and works to fight childhood cancer and ensure that affected children, teens and their families receive the care and support they require. The majority of donations are used to finance research, with other funds allocated towards advice and support, fundraising, raising awareness and administration.
