WESG APAC Finals cancelled amid coronavirus fears

WESG has announced that the Asia-Pacific Finals have been cancelled amid China's coronavirus outbreak. The event was due to take place in Macau from February 16-18 after being rescheduled from its original date of January 3-5 and moved from Kuala Lumpur, in Malaysia, following issues with a local tournament organiser. But the WESG officials announced on Wednesday that the event had been called off after Chinese health officials urged people to limit travel due to the Wuhan coronavirus, which has killed 17 people and infected over 500, mostly in mainland China. WESG has not yet released any information about the new dates or the location of the event, with further details expected after this week's Lunar New Year celebrations. The WESG APAC Finals will...

Geek Fam release captain DuBu

Concluded last week, the WePlay! Bukovel Minor was the second chance for Geek Fam to make it to a Dota Pro Circuit Major via Minor games, but while their performance overall was definitely better than what they’ve been showing at the beginning of the new season, they finished only on third place, missing the tickets to the Leipzig Major. In the tournament aftermath, the Southeast Asian team announces another roster change. This time around they waved goodbye to their captain, Kim “DuBu” Doo-young who was on the roster since the very beginning of the season. “We were blessed to have you as part of the fam and we will cherish the moments spent with us,” posted Geek Fam on Twitter....

djL steps down as GamerLegion coach

Daniel "djL" Narancic has parted ways with GamerLegion as the team looks to undergo a coaching change. djL formerly played for Japaleno, Epsilon, and Chaos, and coached the Red Reserve team that featured Mikail "Maikelele" Bill and Fredrik "FREDDyFROG" Gustafsson. The lineup would stick together for two months, before Tim "nawwk" Jonasson's move to NiP happened, seeing the team lose their AWPer. GamerLegion have since been seen playing with William "draken" Sundin, but are yet to announce him as a permanent addition. No more paiN and Chaos at the Leipzig Major

The first best-of-one elimination games concluded at DreamLeague Season 13: The Leipzig Major and two teams have been taken out of contention in the lower bracket. First to duel for survival were the two South American representatives, paiN Gaming and beastcoast. It was a showdown between Brazilian and Peruvian Dota, where the latter excelled in aggressiveness.  paiN opened their picks with Phantom Lancer, which allowed Beastcoast to draft for early shenanigans and a fast paced game. They executed their plan perfectly courtesy of their stand-in player for this tournament, Rodrigo “Lelis” Santos on Sand King, who was able to keep paiN’s PL from farming. At the same time, in the beastcoast safe lane, Hector “K1” Rodriguez on Bloodseeker was obliterating...

Zyw0o beats s1mple to become the top-ranked player of 2019

Team Vitality member Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut is the number one player in HLTV's rankings for 2019. ZywOo beat out Natus Vincere's Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev for the number one spot. The 19-year-old French player impressed throughout 2019, growing into a dangerous presence on any server. Since he joined Team Vitality in October of 2018, ZywOo helped Vitality win DreamHack Open Atlanta 2018, Charleroi Esports 2019, cs_summit 4, and ECS Season 7. ZywOo and Vitality capped off 2019 with a win against a surging mousesports team at EPICENTER Moscow 2019. He collected a total of five MVP medals last year, including several at tournaments where Vitality failed to make the grand finals. With an average rating of 1.37 and a 28-map streak with a rating above 1.00, ZywOo is more than deserving of...

Taiga saves his team from being eliminated!

In the last best-of-one game in Leipzig, Virtus.pro versus Team Liquid, the CIS squad felt comfortable playing against the powerful Naga Siren-Disruptor combo, and chose to target Max “qojqva” Bröcker with their bans. VP’s plan was to counter the big combo with durable heroes that would be able to survive the initiations. They had Lifestealer and an interesting position five Enchantress and were able to win the safe lane with these two. VP’s durability scared Liquid to some degree, and although they were walking with five Aghanim’s Scepters in their inventories and even a Refresher Orb on the Disruptor, they were still reluctant to push the issue on the high ground. The game reached the 70-minute mark with an extremely...

2020 NBA trade deadline: Best-case scenarios for Bucks, Heat, Celtics and every Eastern Conference contender

NBA trade-deadline buyers are not created equal. While every contender would like to improve before the (metaphorical) clock strikes 3 p.m. ET on Feb. 6, some teams are in a far stronger position to do so than others. As it stands right now, there are six teams with a meaningful chance to win the Eastern Conference. What would constitute a successful trade deadline varies wildly for each of them. Some have far more to trade than others. Some have more financial flexibility in adding talent. Some have needs that better align with what is available on the market, or a front office better equipped to take advantage of that market, or even just a stronger motivation to make a move...

LeBron James responds to trash being thrown at his son, Bronny, during game: ‘Hating has no age limit’

Before he and the Los Angeles Lakers took on the rival Celtics in Boston on Monday night, LeBron James attended his son Bronny's game with Sierra Canyon at the Hoophall Classic in Springfield. Unfortunately, the game came with a bit of a blemish for the James family. In the second half of action, the game had to be briefly stopped as a fan threw something at James Jr. as he was standing on the sideline waiting to inbound the ball. The object hit Bronny in the back, at which time the referee immediately stopped play and called for a nearby police officer to try and identify the perpetrator. The fan was not removed from the game, and no further incidents occurred, per ESPN. After the game, LeBron...

F0REST LEAVES NIP; NAWWK JOINS THE ROSTER

NiP and Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg are parting ways after a seven and a half year partnership, making room for the Swedish organization to sign AWPer Tim "nawwk" Jonasson. f0rest was the last remaining player of the legendary NiP lineup that went 87-0 and dominated the scene in the early days of CS:GO. During his time in NiP, the 31-year-old won 24 events, including the ESL One Cologne 2014 Major, and claimed eight MVP awards. https://twitter.com/NiPGaming/status/1219635768722960384 The veteran Swede will close a chapter in NiP history, putting an end to the slow disintegration of the team that won over a dozen trophies in 2012 and 2013, which started in 2014 with Robin "Fifflaren" Johansson’s retirement. The team then rotated their fifth before changing their older players at a rate of a player a year since 2017, when Adam "friberg" Friberg left, with Richard "Xizt" Landström and Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund following...

NBA Power Rankings: Bucks take top spot back from Lakers; Pacers make huge leap; Celtics, Rockets fall

Things change quickly in the NBA. Just last week the Lakers beat the Thunder in Oklahoma City without LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and then this week they lose at home to the Magic. Go figure. It's just one loss, but with the Bucks playing so well that's all it took for the Lakers to relinquish the top spot this week to Milwaukee. Meanwhile, the Pacers are on fire, skyrocketing up the rankings on the heels of a five-game winning streak. The Clippers and 76ers also moved up despite being without their stars, Paul George and Joel Embiid, for the entire week. Some bad losses in winless weeks also caused the Celtics and Rockets to take a dive. We break down all that and a lot more in this week's NBA Power Rankings. Derrick Rose trade rumors: Lakers, 76ers reportedly interested in former MVP, Clippers have also called

Derrick Rose is having his best season since leaving the Chicago Bulls as he is averaging 18.3 points and 5.9 assists per game on over 50 percent shooting, and it seems as though the rest of the NBA has taken notice. With the Detroit Pistons falling out of the playoff race, a number of contenders have reportedly inquired on Rose's availability. That list includes championship contenders like the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, who also reported that the Clippers have called about Rose, but in a more exploratory manner. Rose's impact on the Pistons goes well beyond his own raw numbers. Detroit's offense is miserable when he doesn't play, scoring only 104.3 points per 100 possessions when he goes to the bench, but a far better...
