The Bearers of the curse. Will it break? or the curse lives on.

One thing made more apparent this year is the invincibility of Team Secret and Virtus.pro. These beasts were the first to secure the first two slots to this year’s The International after appearing in two consecutive grand finals of a Major tournament. Though they’ve already achieved the goal everyone else was clamoring for even before the season reached its halfway point, the powerhouses’ dominance didn’t stop there. Team Secret and Virtus.pro closed the 2018-19 Dota Pro Circuit as the first and second seed, respectively. When it comes to The International, however, it becomes a whole other story. Both teams have a history of underperforming during the annual Dota 2 world championship no matter how strong they were in the preceding...

FIBA: Clarkson has well wishes for Gilas

Clarkson is in the original 19-man Gilas team for the upcoming FIBA World Cup in China and naturally, the plan was for him to pair up with Andray Blatche to form a deadly 1-2 combo. (PSC file photo from Asian Games)   Gilas Pilipinas is moving on from Jordan Clarkson. Clarkson is in the original 19-man Gilas team for the upcoming FIBA World Cup in China and naturally, the plan was for him to pair up with Andray Blatche to form a deadly 1-2 combo. However, the Philippines is sticking to Blatche as its guy for the naturalized player spot and Jordan, who is Fil-American but not counted as a local by FIBA, is once again left in the dust. “I...

Villains sent to the Lower Bracket at TI9

Kindly remind us again what year is it, because, from what we’re seeing, OG and Evil Geniuses are facing off once again in the semifinals of a TI. A full year after OG defeated Evil Geniuses en route to writing arguably the biggest underdog story in esports history by winning The International 2018, these two Dota 2 teams are back at it again. The only difference is that, this time, there are no underdogs. Although one could argue that OG, the defending champions, are technically underdogs heading into TI9 after barely receiving a direct invite to the event, no one making a sound and logical betting prediction tomorrow will think that following OG’s performance over the past few days. After all, we just saw OG...

The International 2019 : Main Event (Day 4)

The International 9 Main Event Day 3 Standings! The 3rd day of the playoffs has been a wholesome battle between monstrous teams. Déjà vu is the word that we're looking for to describe the result of the day 3 matches as Vici Gaming was easily flushed out to the lower bracket by their fellow chinese team PSG.LGD securing the 3rd spot. The match-up that dota2 fans are looking forward to as EG failed to claim their revenge towards OG with an intense battle and indirect trash talking with each other throughout their best of three series. It is again the rematch of the TI8 runner up PSG.LGD versus the current grand champions OG. Also an extraordinary fight between Team Secret...

As Wykrhm Reddy said "anyone is gonna beat anyone" at The International 9, PSG.LGD gives a convincing victory against Virtus Pro and an acrobatic win of Vici Gaming against TNC Pro knocking both Virtus Pro and...

The International 2019 : Main Event (Day 1)

TI9 Group stage has ended and the Main event starts on August 20 with sixteen teams in contention. The International is in a league of its own as it boasts the biggest prize pool in esports. The sixteen teams remaining at TI9 all have a chance to possibly win the Grand Finals. Last year, OG was on the verge of disbanding before they qualified for TI8. Fans and analysts did not consider OG to be a favorite for TI9 and yet the European team surprised one and all with their performance. They took home the lion’s share of the $25,532,177 prize pool. The International 2019 Brackets Valve announced the TI9 brackets after the Group Stage. Round one of the Lower...

Team Secret vs TNC TI9

Team Secret vs TNC Match Winner - Team Secret Both teams have been acknowledged as fierce and tough competitors in the dota2 scene though team secret is more intimidating than TNC considering their current stance in the group stage. Team secret's run in The International 9 group stage has been an amazing start for the team making them strongest contender within their bracket. With their 4-0 (8points) standing, they've proven themselves to be upright by unanimously defeating Alliance, Newbee, Keen Gaming and the TI7 champions Team liquid. TNC on the other hand struggled a little bit in their past performances having an upset loss towards Mineski (2-0). EG as Villains in The International 2019

Let's face it the drama between EG and OG isn't done yet with the fact that Fly and S4 left OG for Evil Geniuses. This has been the case for all years of TI. If a team believe they do not have the Roster that takes to win TI, they will make the necessary changes required to do so but was it the right move? With OG dropping EG in the upper bracket with a score of 2-1, OG proved the villains wrong as OG proceed to play the upper bracket finals. 1 year has passed since the roster shuffle, Will the villains be able to bounce back and meet their nemesis in the Grand Finals or they'll meet in...

The International 2019 Groupings Revealed

Valve has retained the same group stage format that they used since The International featured 18 teams: All 18 participants are divided into two groups where they will play in a single round-robin format. All matches are best-of-two. 1 point will be awarded for each win. The top four teams in each group will be seeded in the upper bracket. The bottom team in each group will be eliminated. The remaining teams in each group will be seeded in the lower bracket. Just like last year, the groupings have displayed a commendable balance between Dota Pro Circuit leaders and qualified teams. The same can be partially said with regional separation, given the balance between Chinese players in each group. The...

Team Liquid vs Chaos Esports Club

This may pale in comparison with the N0tail vs Fly arc since this issue touches an unfair loophole in the current Dota Pro Circuit more than betrayal between blood brothers, and both parties seemed to have parted ways on good terms. However, since it’s still true that MATUMBAMAN has almost missed his chance to attend The International 2019 despite being technically qualified if not for Chaos Esports Club’s success in the European qualifiers, revenge will always be a good angle. via The International Flickr   Evil Geniuses Since their victory in The International 2015, Evil Geniuses has two third-place finishes in the tournament, and three more during this year’s Dota Pro Circuit. These achievements turned them into the team with...
