Riot Squad have announced the release of in-game leader Pujan “FNS” Mehta.

FNS spent just over six months as the captain of Riot Squad, initially joining the roster alongside Jonathan “Jonji” Carey in August 2019. The team found quick success as they earned a spot at the MSI MGA Finals, while simultaneously solidifying themselves as a top-three team in the North American division of ESEA MDL Season 32.

A pair of narrow 14-16 losses to ex-Epsilon and ViCi at Riot Squad‘s MSI MGA Finals appearance left the team battling through a plethora of online qualifiers and events, most notably the online component of ECS Season 8 and ESEA MDL.

While Riot Squad failed to find success in any of their ECS Season 8 week appearances, a flawless run through the playoff bracket of ESEA MDL S32 gave the team a shot at securing a spot in ESL Pro League Season 11. Ultimately, they fell short to INTZ in the offline MDL grand finals to miss out on direct promotion, and ended as the runner-up to forZe at ESEA MDL S32 Global Challenge.

Additional lackluster appearances in qualifiers for IEM Katowice 2020 and DreamHack Open events left the team with few other notable results to their name, seemingly leading to the change at hand.

“As of now, i’ll be playing FPL and looking at my options as they come,” said FNS when contacted by HLTV.org. “No need to rush into anything.”

Riot Squad are now:

United States Peter “ptr” Gurney
United States Austin “crashies” Roberts
United States Mitch “mitch” Semago
Canada Jonathan “Jonji” Carey

United Kingdom Brandon “weber” Weber (coach)

Riot Squad are set to face INTZ in the semi-finals of WINNERS League Season 3 Invite in short order. HLTV.org knows that the team plan to utilize Erick “Xeppaa” Bach as a stand-in for FNS, with no replacement for the in-game leader finalized as of yet.
