Team Liquid vs Vici Gaming

Judging by how well they’re performing right now, it seems like dropping Lasse Aukusti “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen in favor of Aliwi “w33” Omar was the right decision.

So far, Team Liquid have defeated Evil Geniuses and PSG.LGD, as well as Virtus.Pro to make it here.

The only remaining powerhouse they have yet to beat are Team Secret and Vici Gaming, which, given the way things are going right now, means that Team Secret are going to be the only hurdle that Team Liquid will have to cross and it might be a while before that happens because Team Secret are on the verge of being eliminated early from the EPICENTER Major 2019.

So, yes, we’re saying that Team Liquid got this.

Why? Because, why not? Team Liquid may not have looked like the powerhouse they were for the better part of the past three years this season, but they remained strong. They made it to the Grand Finals of the MDL Disneyland Paris Major, after all, and that was before they brought in w33.

Why is w33 a big deal? Because he brings a totally different dynamic to Team Liquid that might just make what was already one of the best lineups in Dota 2 history even better.

Lest we forget, w33 was one of the original Dota 2 pubstars.

Now, he’s playing with four other players who got their starts as mechanically-skilled pubstars, and he’s benefiting from it by playing absolutely out of his mind.

A traditional spacemaker and playmaker who can hold his own at mid against the best of them, w33 affords Team Liquid to go all-in on letting Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi be a full-time hard carry. Not to mention, w33 gives Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Takhasomi a lot of draft flexibility by letting him draft both conventional and unconventional mid heroes, as well as potential cheese picks in w33’s infamous Meepo.

No offense to Vici Gaming, but they play better when they’re able to prepare against their opponents.

Up against a Team Liquid squad who probably don’t know what they’re going to do until they do it, they’re going to have their hands full, both draft-wise and in-game.
