Two Brazilian DOTA teams out!

Teams come and go, either disbanded, roster change or lost sponsorship. But their great moments will always be remembered.

South American professional scene has lost two of its Brazilian Dota 2 teams as both paiN Gaming and SG esports had bad news to bring to their fans this week. While paiN Gaming haven’t made any official announcement, the news being brought to light by the Rodrigo “Lelis” Santos, the situation is much worse for SG esports, who shut down all their operations temporarily.

SG esports official announcement:

“We would like to announce that we will discontinue our activities for an indefinite period of time. Our walk here has been a lot of joy, a lot of achievements, a lot of hard work and none of this would have been possible without the unconditional support of each of you. Currently we understand that it will not be possible to meet your expectations and so we decided to take a break from continuing the work. We also have to thank the Dota 2, RB6, Hearthstone and PUBG players who worked with us throughout these seasons and also all to the professionals who helped us to consolidate SG as one of the most beloved and present organizations in the Brazilian esports scene. This is certainly not a goodbye because the passion for esports runs in the blood of everyone involved in running the company! Rest assured that when new opportunities arise we will be alert!

See you soon,

SG esports team”

paiN Gaming are losing only the Dota 2 team. Their latest roster fought for a spot at the first tournaments of the 2019-20 Dota pro Circuit and made it to the DOTA Summit Minor, but finished just bottom two. In the event aftermath, some of the team members decided to look for other opportunities, which eventually led to full disbandment of the team as stated by Lelis in a TwitLonger post.

Rodrigo “Lelis” Santos:

“Today I come to announce the paiN Gaming Dota 2 team disband. In my view, it was a very selfish attitude of some of the players who simply wanted to give up on the team when we were going through a bad phase. It is very easy to simply leave the team and claim that it is not working, very convenient. The neighbour’s grass is always greener. With this occasion I learnt that no one is your friend or wants your good, everyone just wants their own good and want to fulfil their own interests. Being a captain was a cool experience, but I think never again. It’s an extremely ungrateful job where you just get f***d up all the time and if the team isn’t successful, it’s always your fault.

Lelis, but what now? Are you going back to college?

Not yet, I will venture a little more into the Dota, I’m looking for a team, I don’t want to stay still. Streams will become more frequent until I join another team and it’s time to get a monster in the gym.”

Round two of major and Minor qualifiers is set to begin on the 28th of November with the open brackets, while the closed regional qualifiers for the DreamLeague Leipzig Major and the WePlay! Bukovel Minor 2020 will kick off on the 1st of December.
