Alliance break Team Liquid, securing a guaranteed top 4 finish at The Leipzig Major
Starting the second last day of DreamLeague Season 13 would be a massive elimination series involving the old Alliance roster – now Team Liquid, facing the latest iteration of Alliance.
When last these two teams faced at MDL Chengdu back in November of 2019, Team Liquid were able to stand firm and eliminate Alliance from the season’s first Major. Coming into the Leipzig Major, it was Alliance who initially looked the better team, up until Liquid begun to put on some masterclass showings – such as Tommy ‘Taiga’ Le’s Dark Willow and Enigma versus Virtus.pro and TNC Predator respectively. Alliance would definitely be looking for some revenge though as these two European juggernauts took to the battlefield in hopes of keeping their tournament hopes alive.
As we expected from these two amazing teams, game one was a brilliant showdown and a taste of what was to come. Both teams fought back-and-forth for almost a full hour with big teamfights throughout the game. However, giving away the Io and Gyrocopter combination seemed to be a mistake as Alliance were the ones who were able to pull away with the late game and secure the victory. Oddly enough, Alliance managed to grab the same combination again in the next game, but Liquid seemed more prepared this time.
Wow, @TeamLiquid came through in Game 2 with an agressive tri-lane and said NOPE to the @theAllianceGG Wisp!
GG to @TeamLiquid, we're off to a GAME 3!!!!!!! YASSSS!!

It took Liquid only 28-minutes for Liquid to breach the Alliance high ground and take down the middle lane of barracks as Liquid continued to pull ahead. It didn’t take too much longer for Alliance to call GG and a decisive game three was on the way. With elimination on the horizon for one of these teams early in the day, the final game would not feature the Io or Gyrocopter. For nearly 20-minutes things were completely even but it took one quick Roshan snipe from Alliance to open the flood gates as Liquid fell apart.
Alliance took complete control of the game, leaving Liquid in tatters and with absolutely no way back into the game. With that, Alliance will move on in the lower bracket of the Leipzig Major where they will have to face Evil Geniuses later today, while Team Liquid will be eliminated from the Leipzig Major in the same position they ended MDL Chengdu – fifth/sixth.
DreamLeague Season 13 continues today with two more series as we now head to the Upper Bracket finals between Team Secret and Vici Gaming, with the winner securing a guaranteed top 2 finish in Germany.
