DOTA 2: FIVE HEROES THAT STOOD OUT IN THE BUKOVEL MINOR

After a couple of very interesting days for every Dota 2 fan, the Bukovel Minor came to an end. This was WePlay!’s first attempt to host a DPC tournament and it was an amazing success. According to sources, this was the most viewed Minor in Dota 2’s history so far, which is just mind-blowing.

Apart from the amazing production, this Minor was also very interesting due to the meta. Even though the Outlanders Update has been out for some time now, it still has many surprises. With that said, let’s take a look at five of the top heroes at this incredible Minor.

  •  Phantom Lancer

Slowly but steadily, PL is reclaiming his throne as one of the best carries in Dota 2. Despite the fact that he was only picked ten times, the hero scored a massive 80% win rating. A clear sign that he is very strong right now, especially when picked in the right situation. In fact, Phantom Lancer has always been a somewhat situational pick. It’s not one of those heroes that you can pick straight away and expect to win. However, in the previous patches, there were just better options out there and he was left behind. Now, with just two items (Diffusal and Manta), this hero is starting to look very scary.

  • Outworld Devourer

The second hero is probably the most impressive one of the bunch. Outworld Devourer is one of the few heroes that finished the Bukovel Minor without a single loss. Even though many players complained on Reddit when the Outlanders Update came out that OD would basically die, it seems like they were wrong. The hero is very strong at every single stage of the game now. However, he definitely shines the most during the late game, especially when he gets a couple of items. With just a couple of right clicks and an Astral Imprisonment, this hero is capable of bringing down the entire enemy team with his ultimate. It seems like the new mechanism of his spells is turning out to be pretty broken. To make matters worse, OD’s usual counters such as Nyx are not popular at all right now. Making playing with this hero in the current meta even easier.

  • Windranger

This is yet another hero that finished the tournament without a single loss out of seven games. Although it’s too early to tell whether the “golden days” of WR are back, this Minor is definitely a step in the right direction. Windranger has always been a huge pain to deal with. Even when the hero was away from the meta, we still saw some occasional picks. Apart from being a pain in the lanes, WR has the firepower to completely change the course of a teamfight, especially if she gets a good Shackleshot. One of the main reasons for the high winrate at this Minor is Aliwi “w33” Omar. He is one of the most-renown WR players in the professional scene and played a key role in Nigma’s success.

  • Abaddon

With 27 picks and around 68% win rate, Abaddon is clearly one of the hottest heroes in this meta. Unlike the other heroes we’ve mentioned so far, this one doesn’t really come as a surprise. Abaddon was one of the most popular heroes during the qualifiers for the DPC tournaments as well. He can be played both in positions four and three but it seems like he excels more when he is off-laning. Apart from just an annoying laner, this hero is one of the best carry-supports there is. Using his Aphotic Shield, he can dispel and save his team-mates from danger. Of course, let’s also not forget Abba’s amazing ultimates that makes him one of the worst targets during a team fight. Although this might not seem that important, it actually guarantees that he will cast all his spells multiple times, which is something that not every support can do.

  • Ember Spirit

Last, but definitely not least, we have the best hero of TI 5 – Ember Spirit. Although he is not nearly as strong as he used to be, Ember is still one of the top carries right now. Historically speaking, this hero always changed his position between one and two. Depending on the meta, players either “glass-cannoned” him, or played as a tempo-controller. Nowadays, it seems like there is some sort of a hybrid build that’s working very well. One of the players that played Ember the most was Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi. He was absolutely amazing on this hero and carries his team multiple times.

The Leipzig Major begins in just a couple of days from now. It is going to be the second Major of the 2019-2020 DPC, which means that it will bring together sixteen of the best teams in the world. They will have to go head to head for the amazing $1M USD prize pool and 15K DPC points.
