Kelly Nabong vows to keep emotions in check as he inks one-year deal with Northport
A CHANGED man in Kelly Nabong vows to show up for NorthPort in the coming PBA 45th season.
The eccentric forward has sat down, talked, and finally came to terms with the team where he had one of the most productive seasons of his career.
Nabong inked a one-year pact with the Batang Pier over the weekend and with the promise to coach Pido Jarencio that he’ll behave for the entire season.
As an added bonus, the 31-year-old Fil-Am told team management that he’ll try to go for the Most Improved Player award especially after averaging in double-double with the Batang Pier during the 2018 Philippine Cup.
Coming off a vacation in Taiwan with his family, the controversial veteran big man has already joined NorthPort in its training camp.
He had an expiring contract with San Miguel when the team traded him to NorthPort for Russel Escoto.
The Beermen dealt him to the Batang Pier after being suspended indefinitely along with Arwind Santos and Ronald Tubid following their respective roles in a scuffle at practice during the Governors Cup that also involved import Des Wells.
He was acquired by the Beermen from the Batang Pier during the 2018 Commissioner’s Cup for Gabby Espinas and eventually, won two championships with the franchise.
At NorthPort, Nabong is reunited with former San Miguel teammate Christian Standhardinger.
