New LGD.Int based in SEA to be announced this month

It’s been six years since LGD International ceased to exist. The team featured back then European players competing under the LGD banner up until December 2013, when the roster was disbanded after a 9th-12th finish at TI3.

Over the years, the Chinese organization held two other secondary teams, LGD Forever Young and CDEC Gaming, both with a rather successful tournament history. CDEC reached the TI5 grand finals, while LFY finished third at The International 2017. However, in June 2018, when Valve added a new Dota Pro Circuit rule that prevented the organizations to bring more than one team to The International, LGD Gaming split ways with CDEC, while the LFY division stopped its operations entirely after TI8.

“Looking ahead one year to The International 2019, in cases where one organization or person has ownership in multiple teams, only one of those teams will be eligible to compete in The International, regardless of DPC qualifying points. All teams can participate in the Pro Circuit Majors and Minors leading up to next year’s TI, but all ownership conflicts will need to be resolved prior to TI Regional Qualifiers. This includes cases in which players have financial ties to other teams,” announced the Dota 2 developer ahead of the 2018-2019 DPC season.

Some of the other Chinese organizations continued to groom young players at their varsity teams. Invictus Gaming Vitality or Vici Gaming Potential for example, are a real source of fresh talent for the main teams. Although they aren’t under the LGD ownership, CDEC Gaming continued to run multiple teams and scout for talent, as they’ve always done.

Now, it’s time for LGD to expand once more, as they tease the announcement of a new LGD International squad. The new team will be SEA based, the organization hinted in a Twitter post where they released a limited seat invitation to a press conference.
