South.gg to hold SHAKDART! Valorant tournament

South.gg, one of the up-and-coming esports organizations in Cebu, is partnering with NSB Cyber Cafe and Sugarhouse Podcast to bring you “SHAKDART! Valorant Tournament,” the organization’s first-ever foray into the Valorant esports scene.

The tournament will run from August 26 to September 5 and has a prize pool of PHP50,000. This will be the first time that South.gg would handle a full-blown Valorant tournament, but the organization has handled small community tournaments over at their community group.

Tournament Format

Open Qualifiers

Four daily open qualifiers will run from August 26 – 29, with the winners of each day being qualified for the groupstage matches. The open qualifiers will be open to all registered teams

The open qualifiers will run on a bracket format tournament, with each bracket composing of 8 teams each, with a total of 16 teams competing per day.

Groupstage matches

The 8 teams who made it through the open qualifiers will compete in the groupstage, which will run on a round-robin BO2 format.

The groupstage will have two groups, A and B, with each group having two winners that would advance to the playoffs round.

Playoffs and Finals

The playoffs will have the final 4 teams competing in a BO3 bracket format, with losers going down to the lower bracket to have another shot at the title before being completely eliminated.

The finals will be played in a BO5 match between the winners of the upper and lower bracket.
