The story of Nisha: How to become a Dota 2 star in a CS: GO country

Dota2 as a phenomenon in Poland

Dota2 has never been particularly popular in Poland. When you mention this country in the context of esports and notable players and teams, most people’s first reaction would be the once-famous Virtus.pro CS: GO roster, while Polish Dota2 rosters that have at least minimally shown themselves on the pro-scene are not observed.

But even with all these facts added up, Michal “Nisha” Jankowski and Dota2 found each other. And this symbiosis over a long distance was a phenomenal success and brought us a new, original, and most importantly a very skillful player.

Early start

Nisha joined his first Dota2 team at the age of 13. According to him, he got to know this game mostly because of his brother. Prior to this, Nisha preferred League of Legends, a much more popular game in Poland. It was with his brother that they got into their first Polish stack “LetsDoIt ”. After some time, this stack was signed by the German organization ALTERNATE aTTaX. Representatives had to fly from Germany to Poland to talk with the parents of Nisha, who was 14 years old at the time of signing the contract, to make this signing process possible.

Player – Swiss Knife

During Nisha’s professional career, he tried his hand at each of the roles in Dota2. Initially, he was assigned the role of support, but later, due to the change of the roster, he moved to offlane, after which he would try his hand both on the mid and safe lane, on which he will continue to play until the present moment. Repeatedly, his teammates emphasized the player’s love for “hitting creeps”.

Back to home

On April 1, 2017, ALTERNATE aTTaX announced the disbanding of its Dota2 squad and players returned to their old LetsDoIt tag, though only for a couple of days. On May 2, the team was signed by Team Singularity, and although the team showed good results for its level (winning ProDotA Cup Europe # 18 and ProDotA Cup Europe # 20) on August 20, the organization released the roster and players would again return the LetsDoIt tag.

Kinguin noticed those players and on September 15th they sign this line-up. Under this banner, the team showed good results, advancing through qualifiers of Dota Summit 8 and eventually taking the 3-4th place. And then they were able to go to their first major tournament ESL One Katowice 2018 and took 9-12th place, losing to Evil Geniuses.

But after this, the team’s momentum disappeared and after losing the TI8 EU qualifiers, the organization closes its Dota2 roster.

But Nisha did not go unnoticed by other players and organizations. After the conclusion of The International 2018, roster shuffle began and Team Secret was no exception. On September 5, the team parted ways to their offlane player Fata- and carry Ace, and on September 11 announced a new roster for the 2018 \ 19 DPC season, which included “Zai” and “Nisha” respectively. And if the addiction of Zai wasn’t a surprise to the community, many players and fans were genuinely happy for Nisha. Nisha already showed excellent game results at that time, and with a competent mentor like Puppey , everyone knew he would become the next superstar.

At that time, Nisha already had no problems with his personal performance. 3 of his accounts have long been in the top 15 of the European ranking.

Was the game worth the candle?

With Nisha’s flashy resume, it’s quite reasonable to justify Puppey’s faith in Nisha. But sometimes even the most skilled player may not fit into the team: They may not fit the game style, they may not have a strong enough mentality. Such examples on the pro-scene are enough to doubt the Polish player, who was invited to one of the strongest Dota 2 teams at the moment.

But now, when all the majors, minors and other tournaments are behind, we can safely say that Puppey did not lose! Out of the 5 major tournaments, the team took 2 champion and 1 runner-up titles into their piggy bank, dropping below third place only at DreamLeague Season 11 (4th place) and EPICENTER Major 2019 (9th-12th place)

Nisha regularly surprises his fans by appearing in the highlights of various tournaments; he has also been nominated for the Polish Esports Awards in “Player of the Year” category. Many professional players call him one of the most promising carry players at the time, and the stats of his games in Team Secret fully confirms this (Nisha surpasses likes of t Romanza RAMZEs666, Ame and RTZ in average GPM)
