The Void? The Abyss? Kuro and co. hint to their new team
This year’s Post-TI Roster-Shuffle brought a big surprise: the legendary players from Team Liquid surrounding captain Kuro S. ‘KuroKy‘ Takhasomi decided to leave the organisation after four years. After months of almost complete silence, they are now teasing their new team with cryptic pictures.
Sunday evening, all players shared drawings of themselves staring at a black hole or solar eclipse – similar to Epic Game’s marketing move for Fortnite’s Season 2. While each player is glancing into space, the environment differs in each picture.
Team Void, Team Eclipse, Team Black Hole, Astral, Enigma?
Users already get creative when it comes to guessing the name of the new organisation, but so far there is no further information. Kuro that the most recent lineup will stay together only announced on his Twitter a month ago. The organisation was said to be revealed before the next Major/Minor Qualifiers. But the MDL Chengdu Major came to an end yesterday and the Open Qualifiers for the DreamLeague Season 13 start already this week on the November 28. Yet, we haven’t got a real announcement yet.
As ex-Liquid did not participate in the first DPC events, they haven’t accumulated any DPC points. Therefore, they will have to earn their spot in the closed EU qualifiers first by advancing through the open ones. The competition is going to be hard: Team Secret and OG will take the same route, but only the first two teams will go on to play in the Closed Qualifiers.
When players become legends
In all their years at Liquid, the squad consistently counted as one of the strongest and most feared line-ups in the entire world. Captain Kuro S. ‘KuroKy‘ Takhasomi is one of the most famous and respected names in the scene. Amer ‘Miracle-‘ Al-Barkawi has often be considered to be the most skilled individual player in Dota 2. Together, the team claimed the Aegis at The International 2017. After their peak, their success continued, at The International 2018 they reached top four again.
Shortly before The International 2019, they roster underwent a drastic change: star player Lasse ‘Matumbaman‘ Urpalainen left the team and was replaced by Omar ‘w33haa‘ Aliwi. But even then Liquid displayed an outstanding performance and got close to their second Aegis. After falling short to OG in the finals, they finished their last tournament the second place. Now it is time for them to enter the scene again and continue their legacy.
Do you think they will be able to push through OG and Secret in the qualifiers?
