TNC lead the DPC rankings after the second Major

The second Major of the 2019-2020 DPC season is already over (season seems to fly, doesn’t it?!) and we are now in the territory of predicting who has sealed their ticket to Sweden for a spot at TI10. TNC Predator, who won the first DPC Major lead the rankings with 5300 points but are closely followed by Vici Gaming and Team Secret. Both, TNC and Vici have played in both Majors of the 2019-2020 season whereas Team Secret have just played in one, but are still up there owing to their first place finish at the DreamLeague Season 13 Leipzig Major.

The question now looms: Have these teams done enough to secure a spot at TI10? Last year, the scoring system was a bit different and teams that were eliminated in the qualifiers did not receive any points. This year, with more points being avalibale for all teams, the threshold will go up a bit, but surely, an excess of 4500 points is enough for a direct invite. Looking at the rankings for the 2018-2019 DPC table, the last team to secure the direct invite was Alliance with 1179 points. Even if the threshold goes to 3000 points (highly unlikely, but you never know), the top five teams – TNC, Team Secret, Vici Gaming, Evil Geniuses and Invictus Gaming are going to be in there.

The battle now continues for the remaining seven spots with Team Liquid and Alliance going neck and neck right after the top five teams. Remember, two big names are yet to be added to the fray – OG and PSG.LGD. There is a high chance that they will shove their way into the top 12 in the next three DPC Majors. Nigma is also a big team, who did play in the Leipzig Major, but managed to gain just 150 points. Expect them to come back strong in the upcoming DPC events. Bascially, the top three teams from TI9 are yet to rev up their engines so the teams that are in the bottom half of the top 12 right now should not get complacent by any means. The competition is just heating up!

The next DPC Major of the season, ESL One Los Angeles, takes place at the end of March. It will be played on the 7.24 patch and by the end of it, the picture will be a lot clearer on which teams will breathe easy towards the end of the season and which ones will be stuck fighting on the edge for a direct invite to The International 2020.
