Evil Geniuses

Evil geniuses, or sometimes abbreviated as EG, is one of the oldest esports organization in North America. Their Dota team, founded in the year 2011, has a solid record and is easily regarded as one of the most decorated teams in esports. They won The International in the year 2015 and have never been absent in the premier since.

Team Secret

This Dota 2 team was formed in 2014, with the idea of leading an organization run only by players, and not by any esports organization. It did not disappoint since the team already placed well in majors right off the bat. The team has maintained quite a good standing in the DPC scene and is one of the favorites in a lot of Valve-sponsored tournaments.

Vici Gaming

Formed in 2012, VG is an esports organization hailing in China. In 2013, their humble DOta team was formed, with little experience. But the team stood up and faced top tier teams, and eventually placed first in the RaidCall EMS One Fall Season in 2013. Ever, since, the team has placed well in premier and major tournaments.

OG

OG definitely has one of the best Dota teams out there, and it’s impossible to not recognize this team. They have a solid record of winnings in the Dota Major Championships, and so far the only team to win the TI twice, in 2018 and in 2019. Their feat climbing up will surely encourage any novice Dota player out there to be the best that they can be.

Virtus.pro

Virtus.pro is also a tough organization. The team was established in 2014 representing the CIS region and made their way to being one of the elite teams in the Dota Scene. They currently own five Dota Major Championships and is so far the only team with a back-to-back win on two ESL Majors, the ESL One Katowice and the ESL One Birmingham in 2018.

PSG.LGD

Formerly known as the LGD Gaming, the PSG.LGD is one of the long-time elites in the Dota scene since 2009. The team is currently in partnership with the French football club Paris Saint-Germain back in April 2018, hence the rebranding. They are frequent names in TI, placing third or second, despite roster changes.

Newbee

Newbee’s conception in 2014 was memorable. The TI that year was a grand all-Chinese rumble against Vici Gaming. Newbee eventually rose up, winning first place. Although they placed far in TI9, they won a couple of majors.

Team Liquid

Team Liquid has an established team in competitive Starcraft 2, but their Dota team is not to be underestimated. The team has maintained to be in the top ranks of Dota and has won a handful of majors too. They won TI back in 2017 and was just running behind the champion in the 2019 TI.

Alliance

This team based in Europe is also one of the old teams dominating the Dota scene. They won the TI3, beating defending champions Natus Vincere 3-2. Organized in the year 2013, they showed promised in the early years but also had their share of obstacles. Nevertheless, they reorganized and is headed off for a fresh start.

Invictus Gaming

IG was established back in 2011, with the aim to be at the forefront of professionalism and player compensation. It had a rough start, with team coordination being their top problem. However, the team was able to pull it together, and grabbed the second edition of the TI in 2012, winning against the reigning champion at that time, the Natus Vincere.

Nigma

It’s no surprise that this team is quickly rising up to the tier. This team was established in 2019, consisting of the former Team Liquid roster who won TI7. Early in 2020, they won in the WePlay! Bukovel Minor, beating Chinese team Royal Never Give Up. Recently, they also escaped Team Secret in the WePlay! Dota 2 Tug of War: Mad Moon.
