Team Aster falls down! Another Chinese Team LOST!

In the final series of the day at the MDL Chengdu Major for today Alliance would be fighting against Team Aster in a best-of-three elimination match – the winner moving forward to fight Team Liquid.

Alliance came into the Major on the back of a magnificent start to the Dota 2 season with a win at DreamLeague season 12 followed by a third-place finish at ESL One Hamburg. But a Major would be the first real chance that the team had to face big opposition. TNC Predator would meet them in the upper bracket and send them down to the side of possible elimination where Team Aster would be waiting after they survived the best-of-ones yesterday.

Game one was controlled by Alliance and an absolutely unkillable and unstoppable Nikolay ‘Nikobaby’ Nikolov Faceless Void. In the near 40-minute game he managed to rack up a score of 17-0-11, leaving Aster in tatters when he was done.

It seemed as though there was no stopping Alliance or Nikobaby as he begun to tear into Aster once more in game two. But this time Aster would not fall over as easily and as the game progressed, they started to show signs of life. Despite making some small errors, Aster managed to turn the game around completely and while it did go to over an hour, we would get our first game three of the lower bracket.

Alliance clearly were not happy about losing the second game as the final one was barely a contest. By 20 minutes, Aster were already a barracks down, with no outer turrets left either – Alliance’ lead was 14k and growing quickly. Even though Alliance would choose to slow things down, it was still over for Aster as they threw out the GG in under 30 minutes.

@MarsMedia

Team Aster showed in game 2 that they could compete with @theAllianceGG, but game 3 showed that they didn’t have what it takes to make it further in the tournament.

Congratulations to Alliance who will face @TeamLiquid this coming Friday.

See you tomorrow for more actions!
